Pussycat

Pussycat came to us when it was time for her to leave her mother and lived to be 21!

Feisty, smart and loving but would slap anyone with her paw doing something that annoyed her!

She loved this spot on our Bibles and enjoyed the heat of the lamp.

She went through many happy times with me and was also there purring away in the chair with me during hard unhappy times.

 Long ago in Spotsy Va on a windy and cold  Christmas Eve we heard a lot of loud rustling in the woods and this kitty came out of the woods in front of our house and came over to us and was hungry. We fed her and protected her from Teddy our dog, who didnt want to share his food. She had been through hard times already in her young life as we  noted her  missing tail. We named her Christmas. She stayed for days but then disappeared again. Some love comes for visits and some comes and stays forever.

So many happy and special memories of my past with my  aunt and uncle! While listing postcards I just came across this one. They were so happy with visits from us after they moved to Florida. We almost moved there but destiny had us end up in a warmer part of Florida in the following years.

Great Grandfather Jung

This is Grandmother and Doris and Ruth's father. His mother and father moved to America from the Bavern/Bavaria areas. He was born after they got here but he had brothers/sisters born before they got here too. They moved to Columbia Pa and were hosted by a town church. Grandmother, Doris, Lois, JW and I went up there and found their home and took pics from the outside and had a tour of the church by the then pastor. Grandmother sent him a thank you.. Actually two homes in the time they lived there. Family records show meat butchers... they had people living with them that  helped with house and children ...I forget what you call them who work for you for a certain amount of time then go off on their own. Thank you son-in-law: indentured servant! I will add the house pics and church pic to this post as I come to them .

Comics Long Ago

Back before there was tv...back before there were computers...back before there were smart phones...in fact back before there was ac in our homes.....comics were the kings....no Netflix...but you knew new ones were coming out monthly. I can remember stretching out on the summer rugs in 508 on a weekend evening enjoying the latest comics...not these super heroes...more like archie and little lulu and cowboys...and love stories...but what fun they were!

Beautification Day

COLONIAL BEACH AND THE WINDS FRIDAY...

Marie and I traveled down to Colonial Beach to check the  house and the peddlers market. We passed 15 power trucks coming out as we went  in. plus 3 in the parking lot at a restaurant. It was hit harder the farther in we went. Local traffic only. I am used to seeing pine trees down but these were bIG OAK TREES THE biggest Ive seen down in Va ever. YOu can see in the pics on the boat and house STUFF blown straight across like seared on the boat and house. Wires are still down. and hanging dangerously low. We didnt get all the way in. Here are some pics. It was more intense than I expected.
